Minimum Effort, Maximum Results

This basically means doing as little as possible to get the best results, i.e. what is the least I can do to start earning money as quickly as possible.

Bringing this back to creating our first batch of content I want to do the following:

• Make my content as quick and easy to write as possible, so ideally it should be short and require very little research.

• Make sure that the visitors attracted to this particular content will start generating an income for my site.
• Make sure the content is targeting a sub-niche that has a solid demand and very low competition so that my promotion can bring quick and powerful results. Don’t get me wrong there is going to be some work, it will take a little bit of time and I’ll still need to push quite hard to get that ball rolling. However, this is still the quickest and easiest route to gaining momentum (in terms of traffic, content and income) right from the start.

Set-up the Right Hosting Account

Posted by Admin | 3:35 AM | | 0 comments »

Getting the right hosting account is very important. The last thing you want is a
crap host that doesn’t have all the features you need and is not prepared to help
you.

My personal preference is to have a host that:

• Uses Linux Servers. Linux just means the operating system of your server, I prefer Linux over a Windows server because 99% of the time everything is so much simpler and works properly.

• Uses cPanel because it is easy to use and I am used to it.
• Gives you at the very least 3 MySQL databases. These will be used to store information in an organized database on your server such as your blog posts from a wordpress blog.
• Gives you a few gigabytes of bandwidth. Avoid outrageous claims like unlimited bandwidth as there’s no such thing – they just close your account when there is too much traffic. As a guide 25GB should see you good for at least 50,000 page views if you are not serving videos from your
site.
• A host that can actually handle big traffic. There is a good chance that you will get traffic bursts and you don’t want to be with a host that can’t handle this traffic because they have too many people hosted on one server.
• Allows you to host multiple domains with them in case you have more than one site.
• Gives you a decent amount of disk space. This usually is never a problem unless you have a site that is going to host a lot of images and videos.
• Has brilliant support. Ideally I prefer being able to chat with the support team through instant messaging so I can continue doing my work while they look into a problem. What I don’t like is a support team that always has to pass on your question to their tech team so you have to wait 24 hours for a reply.

Picking a good domain name is very important and will play a key role in the success of your website. Here are some quick tips for choosing a good domain name.

Keep it short and simple.
Notice how the big names like YouTube.com, Google.com, eBay.com,

MySpace.com, FaceBook.com, digg.com etc. are all very short (two words max). This is important as it makes your name easier to remember. Keep your domain short and using as few syllables and words as possible. I’d suggest using two words (max 3).

There is a very good reason that big companies use short domain names for their site and that’s because they work! People remember these short and snappy domains so there's no point trying to reinvent the wheel here.

If you use a long domain name like theipodaccessoriessite.com you will find your visitors, competitors and the wider media won’t take your site seriously, and probably won’t remember the name of your site.

Brainstorming a Niche

Posted by Admin | 3:19 AM | | 0 comments »

Thinking of a niche to cover in the first place can be hard. I prefer to think of a few niches in one go, and then compare to see which one is best. The little bit of extra time taken to choose the best niche will pay off in the long-run. I recommend using the following to help you brainstorm some niches:

• Think of your own interests and the interests of your friends, your family
and others.

• Watch television, read magazines, newspapers etc. to try and spark ideas
for a new niche.
• Amazon Bestsellers – by seeing what products are popular you can get
ideas for niches.
• eBay Pulse – once again seeing what products people are searching for
can help you identify a niche
• Google Trends – seeing popular searches that people are making can
help you identify a niche.
